Angiogram

I recently had a Fistulogram since I receive my Belatacept through my access. I seem to have an arterial occlusion and the Vascular surgeon would like to perform an Angiogram. I am getting very anxious about this and was wondering if this is performed under conscious sedation? Any information regarding this I would appreciate! Thank you.

  • Yes sedation is given but can easily awakened afterward. After the angiogram, the catheter is removed from your arm or groin and the incision is closed with manual pressure....

  • Most likely conscious sedation will be used to "balloon" the vessel open, though you may not remember much after it is administered.  The prep and recovery will take longer than the procedure and it is quite painless.  Try to stay calm during the lead up/prep, waiting can be stressful, but you will be fine.  I wish you good luck with it and hope you have great success.
