  • Thank you all for your replies. I didn't feel a thing. I didn't need to get so worried or panicky. I've been on my toes since a small incident of plastic dumpster lid slamming onto my hand when I was throwing out the trash can. Sigh.. feeling a little better after vaccinated!
    • All the stress and worry was not totally a loss.  You will face the next "crisis" a little differently now.

  • Tdap is not a live vaccine and therefore could theoretically be given to post transplant patients. Tetanusdiphtheria, and pertussis are very serious diseases. Tdap vaccine can protect us from these diseases.  An alternative is the Td, which omits the pertussis portion.  You should discuss this decision with your Tx team to become comfortable beforehand, to ease any fears you have.  I added links about this below.  Know that most patients do not react to the vaccine.

    • Thank you! Youre right. So far I feel fine haha whew I was nervous for reading people's experiences online ;)
I have no sore arm and even didn't feel a thing when the needle went in. Actually I had a tetanus scare when a plastic dumpster lid slammed onto my right hand. It bled a little so I went the next day for the Tdap!
  • No side effect to me.  I had taken after 1 year of completion. It was non-active vaccine.

  • I had Tdap just last week.  No problems.   If it is an "inactive" vacinne you are find.

  • you will be fine :) you only have to have it every 10 years i think

  • I had it a few years ago when my kid started day care -- just pain around the injection site for about 30 minutes and that was all - no allergic or weird reactions - I did have to sit in doctors waiting room for 15 minutes after injection just to be certain -

    • Thank you for answering. Im on my way now and anxious. Your comment makes me feel better!
