I had a multivisceral transplant in 2005, and currently the cause of my higher than normal eosinophils as seen constantly in my monthly lab work is uncertain at the moment. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with eosinophils which related to his or her transplant. The doctors I have seen have ruled out many possibilities. At first it was thought that I had eosinophilic pneumonia, but the pneumonia has been gone many months and the level of eosinophils has remained the same. I have had many blood tests to rule out things like an autoimmune disorder, HIV (because of past blood infusions), and possible genetic disorders, and I also did a stool test to check for parasites just in case. I changed one of my medications to another as it was thought as a possible cause, but the change did not help. At the moment, my allergist is not sure what to do, but he will be doing some consulting with others in his field later. He said it is possible that one of my other medications or the transplant itself could be a cause. He prefers not to mess with my tacrolimus if he does not have to. He said my level which is usually around 20% (sometimes going lower or a little bit higher) is not too concerning now, but he said if the eosinophils remain high for a very long time, it could possibly lead to organ damage. The eosinophils have been higher than normal for a bout a year or so at least. I would be very grateful to anyone who would share anything that he or she might know about this. I would love to be able to return to Miami to be investigated by my transplant team there, but I live in Kentucky and cannot afford such a trip.   Again thank you all, for I appreciate how everyone supports each other here, and just seeing this is helpful to me. Best wishes to all!

Warm regards,
