  • Only you and your doctors can answer that question.  I went back to work at 2 months, but it was too soon.  I worked in a hospital, so I had the exposure to sick people all the time - that was not the issue.  The issue was that my body had not healed enough to take on the activity and the stress - even for an office job.  I was 58 at the time.  Had I been younger, who knows.

    Good luck with your decision.

  • No way I could have done it.   At 2 months post-TX I went back to my desk job, but college can be a grind.  As others noted, you risk of infection in close proximity to lots of people who will come to class sick might not be a great idea.

I wish you the best with this decision.

  • Nobody has a crystal ball and can see into the future. It would probably be best to allow yourself a year after the transplant just in case any complications show up ( most likely to happen within the first year.) However, that doesn't mean you won't feel great and up to taking classes sooner.  Also, by waiting longer, you should be on a lower amount of meds~ which should make you feel better.

  • You may take online classes first. However make sure don't stress out.
  • College is a great learning and maturing experience.  It does pose a higher risk of infection or other health issues and caution should be exercised.  I agree with Hostess Rise, have a conversation with your x team and keep them informed of your plans. You should make plans with them for who will handle your health needs while away and informing the college health professional, to be sure you have adequate coverage at school.  The time to set this up is NOT when you are having an issue. I wish you great success in your studies.

  • Ask your doctors we have no idea what is best for you.

    • It is very important that you speak with your doctors.
