Hey there, friends! Well, after 7 months of waiting, a little less than one month on dialysis, I got the call on Tuesday! I was at work after finishing a 6 hour nocturnal dialysis run and sleeping that off for about 6 hours. Asked to call my surgeon back, and after confirming with my mom that this was real, I jumped on it. You all said the feelings are indescribable, the emotional roller coaster, and it's totally true. I jumped on the band horn and got support rolling, alerted my community and had surgery for 10 hours starting at 10pm on 10-24. One day short of a month of my 28th birthday!! My mom has been my caregiver, and with all the med changed just in the first 5 days I have to say I couldn't have done it without her. She's been my rock of constant reassurance. I've gotten to experience so much love and support from people far and near, it's amazing. Just wanted to thank all of you for helping me to prep for this amazing time though this forum and being so generous with support. My kidney and liver situation is really good with the exception of the oxalate still in my system. I may be on dialysis daily or for a short time, but this kidney looks like it's really taking. Thanks, all!!!
