  • I had googled that awhile ago, and came up with a $500,000 ball park range.  That is not including all the monthly prescriptions needed for life after transplant.  Yikes!

    • Oh my God, can i go there to check out for the cost for  new lungs. I am new to here and was wondering that and the cost for the drugs for life.I know it would be a ball bark $ but its a start . God does provide for us, Please dont be overly concerned  ,i do know how you feel. thank you.

  • Duane, that is a great question. It is good to have some knowledge of the costs. It is equally important to have an understanding of the funding sources that may be available, depending on a variety of factors. The size of the numbers may astound you but please do not be discouraged by them.

My suggestion to you is read the info presented in the article I have linked to below. After familiarizing yourself with the many issues discussed in the article, make a list of questions that you may be left with. Some of them may be difficult to get answers to but as times goes by, the answers will come. In the meantime, I (and others here) will try to help you as much as we can. The financial advisor or social worker with your tx center is also a very good source of info specific to you and the region where you live. Take care, my friend.

    • Thanks will check the site out. tc

    • Mark found a good article.  I followed it to another page that generally describes the cost by organ type.  Remember that each case is unique and additional factors can impact the figures in the associated table.  This should help you estimate the impact to your own situation.
