Hello everyone,

I'm post liver transplant 2 years in August 2017.

I'd like to ask if anyone had chronic small vessel ischaemic changes post transplant.
A few months ago started to experience strong headache , dizziness, squeezed had pain.

Also my BP elevated. My GP proscribed Karvea, I've started, however it's no change.

May be someone had experience with high blood pressure medications and ischaemic changes medications, let me know, please.

Thank you

  • Hi Milla:<br/>
I just realize my response from 2 days ago did not register. I hope you continue to do well, despite your BP ordeal.<br/>
I developed high BP after my surgery. After a while my body got immune to the med so the nephro would change to another. Sometimes the new drug was effective and sometimes it wasnt. At one point my BP was nearly 300 over nearly 200 and I was hospitalized for 8 days. (I hope yours do not escalate even close. )<br/>
Part of my high numbers are stress related. <br/>
I am currently on Norvasc and high doses of Labetalol; however my BP fluctuates but it will never be close to normal.<br/>
Milla, you mentioned that your GP prescribed a med; have you consulted with your TX specialist to find out if s/he knows of a drug that might be more effective than the one given by the GP?<br/>
Good luck, best wishes as you join us here on the journey.<br/>
• Hi Patsy,

Elevated BP started before transplant, however it's fluctuated. I have asked my LT team about meds, which my GP prescribed, however they do not seem to care. How many times I've asked about some supplements they don't know any answer. Slowly I've introduced some Vit and supplements and watching my LF and tacro level. Always trying to find natural solution if possible.

      Thanks for reply.

      Best wishes.

  • Ischaemic change can be reduced by increasing blood circulation such as exercising, taking BP med, and hydration.

    Take care.
    • Hi Joan, I've started Co Q10 which is lowering BP and L-Arginine powder for for opening vessel and better circulation. Feel better and BP is normal. Thanks for reply.

  • My meds causes my blood pressure. So for a year l have been on Losartan 100mg. And have no issues.
    • Hi Michael, thank you for reply.

      Appreciate your feedback.
