Pregnancy after Transplant

I am just wondering if anyone has had a successful pregnancy after a Kidney transplant ( the kidney is midline to be exact). If you have been able to get pregnant did it effect your kidney in any way? I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.

  • Yes its possible. After my first transplant i had my daughter who is nearly 13 now. I had a normal pregnancy and birth was natural so dont worry... :)
  • I am also in a plan for the same. Expecting more answers. Thanks in advance.

  • Yes. It is very possible to have a successful pregnancy after a kidney transplant! In fact I had 2 successful ones. My children are now ages 20 and 23 and healthy. It is very important to get a high-risk obstetrician on board right away to monitor every aspect of your pregnancy and be prepared to have extra monitoring and lab work ups performed. With my first pregnancy I did develop preeclampsia which was remedied with bed rest the last month of my pregnancy. This however did not occur with my second. Other than that my kidney did just fine and I had no lingering effects after either pregnancy! Good luck to you and God bless :)
    • Hi Rebecca how many is your transplant?
