I was using a BB cream with SPF15, until my dermatologist recommended a couple of facial moisturizers with SPF30: CeraVe facial moisturizing cream with SPF30 or Aveeno positively radiant daily moisturizer broad spectrum SPF30. I like the idea of my skin doctor looking at my face & suggesting options for protection.
For skin care this a great product, Called GLA skin oil ( Borage Oil ) Great for Beautiful Skin, Psoriasis, Eczema, Rosacea and Wrinkles. It's by Lorna Vanderhaeghe. Check it out. Little on the price, $45 to $48 per 237 ml bottle in Canada but made in the U.S.A
As a liver transplant recipient, I was told I could not take aspirin, only Tylenol.
I had a kidney transplant 6 years ago and in the past couple of years have had spots frozen and squamous cells removed. Had to see a special doctor to do ones on my face. I see my kidney doctor 2 x a year and my dermatologist 3x a year. I use aveno moisturizer with sunscreen for my face and sport sunscreen when I am going to be out in the sun. But if an aspirin would help I would try that too.
Patty--I do see a dermatologist annually. I actuall don't have annual transplant followups, I see my transplant team every 5 years and the years in between I see my PCP for a physical and have blood and urine testing done and results sent to my transplant center. I started seeing a dermatologiost when I noticed a suspicious looking spot that turned out to be benign but my dermatologist recommended annual checks to be on the safe side given my meds. :)
I am 5 years out in April and in the past 2 years I have had 8 squamous cell cancers removed. I use Coppertone spf 30 and wear UPF long sleeve clothing and always a wide brimmed hat in the sun. I don't use sprays they blow away and if you don't rub them in they are spotty.
Let's talk about: skin cancer prevention, skin care tips, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, lotions and anything that comes to mind.
