I was transplanted with a new liver and kidney in March, 2015, at Oschner Med Ctr in New Orleans after waiting ten years with liver disease. My kidneys failed in 2013. I have a new lease on life and am eternally grateful.

  • Hey John! We do have some similarities in our journey. I did not have any chronic disease processes. I pretty much killed my liver taking too much Tylenol when I had a terrible flu. As the local hospital tried to save my life and treat my liver, they killed my kidneys. So, there should be no chronic, recurrent problems coming back at me. At about 3-4 months out from tp I began to feel almost normal. Could eat, could drive, no dialysis! It's gotten better and better. Fewer meds, more stability and energy. I went back to working half time as a psychiatric nurse, more out of boredom. (How many magazines can a person read in one day? ...lol) I hope you will have a nice long road to good times!
