Where did you hear about Transplant Friends?

I was researching Tacrolimus information for an article I'm writing when I stumbled across you guys by accident. I signed up straight away. Man, this sounds right up my street!

Are You Male or Female?

Male

Share - which illness led up to you needing a transplant?

Damaged liver. Too much regular drinking, then ignoring the symptoms

Which Organ(s) did you receive? If you are on the waiting list, please share.

Liver

Drugs, vitamins, favorite foods

Advagraf, CellCept. Favorite food? Everything! (I live in France, so...) Big fan of a good curry - love to cook!

How many years have you had your Transplant for?

Nine months.

I am Interested in Transplant Friends because...

Off the top of my head, I'd say the contact with like-minded people. The idea of sharing some of the ''adventure'' sounds good. Also, I hope I have something to contribute - I'd say I'm pretty well informed and very positive about it all. Hopefully could be of help (can also speak French, it it helps) I'm Irish, but that probably doesn't help much!

Which Transplant Center has or will perform your life saving surgery?

Hôpital Henri Mondor, Créteil, Paris France

Share how your transplant experience changed your life?

Running out of internet time here - too long to say it all. In a nutshell, then: It made me realize the value of being alive. Even the miserable bits are just wonderful, in a way. I mean - ALIVE!

Share whatever information you want us to know about you

In terms of contribution, I write, I'm a qualified engineer and know my way around problem solving. I have so many things to say, advice to give and more importantly, receive.

Share your interests and hobbies

Here's a copy/paste from my CV: Rugby, Golf, Skiing, Swimming (Qualified Lifeguard), Martial Arts, Journalism, Writing, Science, Ecology, Alternative Energy Sources. Currently working on a bilingual workshop project to educate and open young children's minds through science, particularly by recycling old motors and electronic devices to build educational toys, work-saving tools and different forms of electrical transport.

  • that should have been ''you're'' the controller

Sheesh - and I teach English and write!

  • Hi Kidneyboy & Hostess Rise. Thank you both for the welcome.

Just trying to get the hang of the site. I'll scout around and see if I need to send a friend request to communicate other than by this comment forum which is open for all to read, I presume.

Rise - may I call you that? Your the controller, right? I might need to chat in private in the future, if possible. Just so that you can clear/veto/edit things I might want to publish.

    Talk later folks!

  • Hi Michael

Welcome to TransplantFriends!  How great, you are enjoying life fully, made better by doing it in Paris!
