Where did you hear about Transplant Friends?

I follow on Twitter & Facebook so I decided to link up here.

Are You Male or Female?

Female

Share - which illness led up to you needing a transplant?

Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). I also have Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC)

Which Organ(s) did you receive? If you are on the waiting list, please share.

I'm about to be listed for a double lung transplant. It's possible if my kidneys worsen I might need a kidney transplant later down the line in a worst case scenario, but I don't worry about that now.

Drugs, vitamins, favorite foods

too many to list.

How many years have you had your Transplant for?

about to list. My anticipated wait is around 6 months (estimated)

I am Interested in Transplant Friends because...

I just wanted to learn more about this group & connect with people. I'm always interested in branching out my transplant resource network.

Which Transplant Center has or will perform your life saving surgery?

Hospital of the University of Pennysylvania

Share how your transplant experience changed your life?

I've had LAM for 12 years so I was probably more prepared than I would have been otherwise, watching other friends go through the process. But, it's still a learning curve. I'm amazed at the advances made in the past few years.

  • Duane, I have two cats that although they drive me crazy, I love them. :) These kinds of photos always make me smile :)

  • thanks for the welcome. Yep, Hostess. I've been on rapamune since 2009, unfortunately last year it stopped holding my lungs. Still works on my kidneys tho luckily.  I was low enough then after 12 years that I needed oxygen & then had a transplant eval.  I was supposed to talk listing at the end of January, but we had that big snowstorm just before my appointment so I had to reschedule.

  • Greetings and Welcome to Transplants Friends Nicole.

  • When I saw your profile mentioned LAM, I immediately thought of an article that I read last year.

I just researched Rapamune and LAM and found this

  • I received a double lung tx so feel free to ask me anything.

  • Hello Nicole
