Jerry's Double Lung Transplant Story

Postby jallen613 » Mon Oct 22, 2012 4:40 am

I'm 64 years old, married to a wonderful woman for 34 years now, and was a heavy smoker for 40 years. I quit smoking Dec. of 2008. In 2010 I was diagnosed with End Stage Emphysema and given 3 years to live. My only option was a double lung transplant. After much testing I was put on a waiting list, where I remained for 1 year and 4 months before I got "the call". That was in April of 2012, 29 weeks ago. I feel great, still have a ways to go in my recovery. I thank my donor and her family for this wonderful gift of life. My whole story which I put together from notes and pictures my wife and sister took can be seen at http://www.jerrysorrow.com
