Cellcept and fatigue?

Initially I was only taking Prograf, but after a quick rejection episode, I was put on Prograf and Cellcept. I really feel more fatigued and am curious if anyone else has an issue. Thoughts???

  • Hi Patti,

CellCept (mycophenolate mofetil) does have some serious side effects, everyone's reaction to it may vary.  I had an opportunity between kidney Txs (off meds for 9 mon.,) to truly feel the difference our Tx meds make in our lives.  If the weakness continues or gets worse, I  would check with your Tx team to be sure your levels of all medications are within their target range.

  • Hi Pati, I am also using Cellcept from the beginning. I had some issues already which they blammed the Cellcept to cause it. I got my liver in April 2015 and had some skin issues. My doctor referred me to a dermtologist and he made some checkouts. They removed two "tumor" on my right forearm and left ankle. I never had growth here before. They developed only after the liver tx. They removed both and later another one after it grew rapidly over a short period. They told me this is a cause of the medication and I need to take care when I am in the sun as it can cause skin cancer.

At the beginning i had some fatigue but now I am enjoying good health. My medication remained the same for the last 14 months and my values are dropping.

    • Thanks, I'm not sure what it is, as the drugs all create some sort of problems, and I probably ought to just keep my mouth shut, cause I really am so healthy, considering where I was before tx. My levels have always been stellar, but I'd really like to know why I'm dragging a little. Chalk it up to being an over achiever! I'm glad to hear you are doing so well.... your tx. Keep it up!
      • Never, ever "keep your mouth shut!"  This is the most important job you have, as a recipient, to speak up when you do not feel right.  It is the input that no medical test will reveal.
